Happy Halloween to all of you!
Here’s a quick photo of some of the pumpkins dressed up for the holiday. These are all from the rogue pumpkin plants that grew in the back yard grass this year. We pasted googly eyes on them.
I have, unfortunately, been quite sick this year, but the garden has been a cheering influence.
Also, here’s a picture of our dog, KC. The vet technicians dressed up the bandaging on her right paw to look like a Jack ‘O Lantern so that she’s ready to greet trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.
I wish you all a wonderful October.

Fall is approaching here in New Mexico, and you can smell it in the air as the various grocery stores roast green chile for their customers.
I’ve actually got two green chile plants growing in the garden bed. I’m thinking I need to harvest the green chile pods this weekend and roast them on the BBQ grill for storage in the freezer for the winter.
Another sign of the approach of fall is that the State Fair has returned to town, and the night temperatures are getting down into the 50-60 F range. It still gets into the 80-95 F range during the day, which makes for some interesting effects on the exteriors of the houses and the outside equipment that go through a 40 degree temperature change in 24 hours.
We had a rogue pumpkin plant take over part of the grass in the back yard, and to my bemusement I was able to harvest a fine looking small pumpkin that we’ll be able to use for Halloween this year.
We’ve also got a few more sunflowers coming into bloom just now, which brings its own sort of bittersweet joy, because I know this will be the last round of blossoms for the year in the garden. Winter is coming and the nights are getting cold. But the sunflowers blooming are a gorgeous burgundy color. Here’s a picture of one of them.
I hope you all have a pleasant September.

Our cat Rajah loves to show off his food bowl to anyone who visits us. Today he made it clear that he wanted me to take a picture of it so that he could show it off to the internet as well.
This is a cat who hates to dine alone. Hates it. He will beg anyone in the house who will listen to him to come with him to his food bowl to watch him eat.
He will look over his shoulder to make sure his guest is still there, and if you are rude enough to wander off before he is done eating, he will chase you down and insist with loud meows that you go back.
After today, my posts with pictures will become much more infrequent. The changes to Lynn Kilmore as my pen name were crashed through for the 2nd edition ebooks during the last two weeks (instead of taking 3 months as originally scheduled), and it’s now been pointed out to me that my blogging is taking time and energy away from finishing the edit to the sequel for Cubicles, Blood, and Magic. I need to get cracking on finishing the latest round of editing on that manuscript and turn it in.
So there will be pictures … just less frequently.

KC developed a hot spot on her ankle that she proceeded to lick too much, and so the vet had to bandage the spot to keep her off it.
This week’s bandage wrapper color is pink.
Today KC also decided to liven the household up by jumping on the bed that Rajah (our cat) was dozing on. Rajah proceeded to roll over to get farther away from her … and rolled right off the bed onto the carpet.
Rajah is fine. Only his dignity was injured.
The desert heat is getting intense during the middle of the day, but KC still has a good time outside in the early mornings and evenings. She loves to roll in the dead grass spots to get a good dirt bath.
It’s good to be reminded that the simple things in life can be the most fun.
Until next week… Cheers, Lynn
